Caserta Royal Palace & Mount Cassino Abbey Tour

The Caserta Royal Palace is known as the “Versailles of Naples” and was built in the 18th century by Charles of Bourbon. The palace, designed by the famous architect and painter Luigi Vanvitelli, has 1,200 rooms decorated with opulent frescoes and is considered one of the most sumptuous palaces in Italy. Surrounding the palace is a 50,000 square meter garden with a magnificent, 75 meter-high waterfall visible from the palace.

After the beauty of the Caserta Royal Palace, we will visit the Mount Cassino Abbey, founded in 529 by Saint Benedict of Norcia and heavly bombed in the Second World War as it was suspected of being a German headquarters. Today the abbey is inhabited by Benedictine monks, and nearby is the Polish cemetery with the graves of the Polish soldiers who died during the brutal Cassino battle.
