A road trip is not the only way to discover the beautiful landscapes and natural wonders of the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi Coast. Tour these coastlines by sea for a different point of view and access to the tiny coves and beaches inaccessible by land. We offer private or shared boat tours to Capri and the Amalfi Coast.
The island of Capri has a beautiful, rugged coast with innumerable coves and bays at the foot of its steep cliffs which were used in Roman times as nympheus for the sumptuous villas built as summer homes on the clifftops above. The most famous is undoubtedly the Blue Grotto, where magical light effects have been described by many writers and poets who have visited over the centuries. Capri is also famous for its Faraglioni, three towering rock stacks just offshore that create a spectacular visual effect . The three stacks even have names to distinguish them: Stella, for the one closest to the mainland, Faraglione di mezzo, placed in the iddle, and Faraglione di fuori (or Scopolo), the furthest from shore.
Positano has been a holiday resort since the Roman Empire, and is known for its steep village center which clings to the cliffside down to sea level. Rather than roads, most lanes are pedestrian staircases which lead from the town ot the main beaches on the waterfront like Praia Grande and Fornillo, within walking distance. Other beaches, including La Porta, Arienzo and San Pietro Laureano, are accessible mainly by boat.
The small islands of Li Galli are an archipelago that belongs to the town of Positano, located at few miles south of the Sorrento Peninsula. The three tiny islets, Gallo Lungo, La Rotonda, and Dei Bringanti, are famous for the Greek legend of the Sirens. These creatures were halfwoman and half bird, resembling chickens from which the name “Li Galli” (chickens) comes. The Russian dancer Rudolf Nureyev bought the islands in 1989.
Punta Campanella, the extreme point of the Sorrento Peninsula, is lined with rocky caves, coves, and beaches invisible from land.
